Our drawing and painting classes are relaxed and sociable, offering a high level of tuition combined with a fun syllabus that helps many of our students to form lasting friendships that continue beyond the end of each art course.
Each member of the tutoring team plays an important role, and here we’ve explained a little more about who they are and what they each get up to:
Amanda is the principal tutor for all of our art courses in Salisbury and Christchurch.
To compliment her permanent smile and her bubbly and approachable personality, Amanda graduated from Leicester De Montfort University with a BA Hons degree in graphic design, demonstrating her long-held love of all things artistic.
Her specialization in illustrative artwork has meant that over the years she has been commissioned to work with clients such as BP, Asda, Elf Enterprises, Baxters, The Royal Scottish Orchestra and many other instantly recognisable names, an accolade of which she is justifiably proud.
She illustrates children’s books and has also taught art in local secondary schools. Amanda also works as a freelancer for various design agencies which, together with the demands we place on her, means she is always busy!
Despite this hectic workload, Amanda always finds the time to chat patiently to her students, offer one-on-one tuition where necessary, and maintain that permanent smile and a ‘can-do’ attitude.
She holds a Masters of Art in Museum Studies and has worked at Bournemouth University before joining us, having studied art in a wide range of different mediums since she was in her twenties.
She has a great personally and new pupils quickly warm to her and her relaxed, structured and confident teaching style.
A keen artist in his own right, Adrian finds little time to paint these days once the commitments of his family and pet dog Poppy have been taken care of! He is an active member of Bournemouth 41 Club and a past President and Chairman of Bournemouth Round Table. He has also been Chairman of The Highcliffe Business Association, and is well known in the Christchurch and Highcliffe area through his ongoing property interests.
Jackie is Adrian’s wife and helps with the administrative side of things, the ordering and management of the materials for each class, and generally ensures it all goes to plan when Adrian’s not around!
Jackie’s father is an accomplished artist, painting everything from portraits and figurative works in oils, to acrylic and watercolour landscapes. Jackie and Adrian’s youngest daughter is also very keen on painting and drawing and has in fact been taught in the past by Amanda.
When Jackie’s not helping out with the art classes, she’s also involved with Bournemouth University helping students with learning difficulties, and is a past Chairwoman of Bournemouth Ladies Circle and an active current member of Bournemouth Tangent.
Jacqui (yes, there are two of them!) is our course co-ordinator and is in charge of the class bookings, speaking to interested potential students and answering any questions they may have. With each art course teaching a different curriculum, Jacqui can explain what each lesson will involve and help to clarify which course is likely to be most suitable for an individual pupil.
