Our professionally taught part-time adult art courses are based in the general Salisbury, Christchurch, Poole and Bournemouth area, drawing in additional students from the wider Dorset and Wiltshire conurbation including Wimborne, Ringwood, Ferndown, Highcliffe, West Moors, Verwood, Lytchett Minster and Wareham.
Each term extends over a period of 14 weeks, and lessons are held in the same venue and on the same day every week. Each session lasts about 3 hours and you will be able to choose either morning or afternoon tuition to fit in with your other plans, subject to availability.
You will only be attending one 3 hour painting class a week, leaving you free to practice your new hobby in between each tutorial if you want to. Our curriculum is operated in conjunction with The Seasons Art Class, a well established and highly regarded painting academy with branches throughout the country, and we are proud that they have selected us to work with them as their sole representative within the Salisbury, Poole, Christchurch and Bournemouth area.
Terms are scheduled to start around the beginning of each new season, meaning our academic timetable accommodates up to 4 courses a year within each of our venues. New terms therefore usually commence in the spring, summer, autumn and winter, with breaks for public holidays such as Christmas and Easter.
We put a lot of thought into the syllabus for each of these modules, giving you the chance to improve your drawing and painting technique in a broad range of different artistic mediums, whether you are a complete beginner, or a returning pupil looking to improve and develop further as an artist.
You’ll also find that the study programme and classroom timetable for each module is slightly different, so if you decide to come back in the future for more lessons you won’t end up going over the same stuff again and again… it will be a new curriculum with new supporting notes and handouts, different projects to paint, and a fresh tuition structure each time, allowing you to pursue new and creative avenues in your journey towards becoming an accomplished painter.
Our tutors are all trained art teachers and practicing artists with a warm and approachable attitude, encouraging you to ask questions and ensuring you get the most out of each module, whether your favourite medium is watercolour, acrylics, oil pastels, or simple pencil sketches and drawings.
You will hone your artistic skills on A3 and A4 cartridge, watercolour and acrylic papers, and our additional workshops and studio sessions give you the chance to try other supports (the technical name for the paper or other material on which you paint) such as canvas if you prefer.
Our lessons offer a warm and welcoming environment and operate in closely structured but nevertheless relaxed surroundings, conducive to learning while having fun at the same time. Many pupils find they develop lasting friendships with other like-minded painters as a result of meeting up for the first time at one of our tutorials, and find themselves returning time and again to further their education at workshops and more advanced painting classes in the future.
