Dorset Society Magazine attended the recent art exhibition we held to mark the end of our Spring art course in Bournemouth, complete with a photographer who took pictures of some of the people in attendance.
They have uploaded some of these shots onto their website, before featuring the event in their printed magazine.
The event was visited by about 200 students, visitors and guests from the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area, together with Rob Benepal, the Chairman of Bournemouth Round Table, a club which supports local worthy causes.
The feedback we received went way beyond what we could ever have expected and even resulted in some of the visitors booking onto future drawing and painting classes with us. We hold a similar gallery-style exhibition at the end of all of our Poole, Christchurch and Bournemouth art classes and it provides a relaxed and sociable conclusion to each course, allowing pupils and their friends and invited guests to mingle and talk about the lessons, what they were able to achieve in class, and what they wish to do with their new-found painting and drawing skills in the future.
The media on display included pencil drawings, oil pastel paintings covering a selection of different projects, watercolour landscapes, birds and delicate flower petals using wet-on-wet watercolour techniques and other effects, and everything from abstract art to landscapes and trees in acrylic paint too.
The variety was tremendous and the students excelled themselves, producing an exceptionaly high standard of work which got better and better as the course progressed. In fact one of the pupils in the beginners art class even sold two of her paintings during the exhibition — a real compliment I’m sure you’ll agree!
