Christchurch Rowing Club Regatta

Christchurch Rowing Club LogoWe are delighted to have sponsored one of the races in the Christchurch Rowing Regatta which took place on Saturday 23rd May.

We supported the Masters Ladies Fours in which teams from Christchurch, Poole and Southampton competed for the Mike Wall trophy. Others clubs taking place in the event included Lymington, Itchen, Westover, Coalporters, and crews from the Isle of Wight.

Christchurch Rowing Club was founded 67 years ago and has grown into a competitive and popular club for men and women of all ages and abilities. Their clubhouse is situated directly on the banks of the River Stour and enjoys fantastic views both up and downstream. In fact, this is the venue in which we hold our Christchurch painting and drawing classes and has proved to be very popular with our students, offering free parking and lots of natural light.

The host club won the event which was the first of the year, and further heats will be held throughout the summer season in the Dorset and Hampshire area.

Learn How To Paint Delicate Watercolours

Great news for local residents in the Bournemouth area looking for something fun to do over the next few months — There is a 14 week part-time art class (3 hours a week, mornings or afternoons) starting soon, close to the centre of Bournemouth.

There’s easy access by bus (Yellow Buses Route 33), or free parking available if you come by car. The course is designed for absolute beginners who have never picked up a paint brush or pencil before, through to ‘improvers’ who have some experience of learning how to paint and draw but want to improve on what they have already been taught.

Step-By-Step Guidance

We adapt to each student’s needs and give them all the guidance and help they require to develop their artistic skills. The curriculum is fun, comprehensive and interesting with practical demonstrations, detailed tuition, and full colour printed notes available at the end of each lesson for pupils to take home with them.

Over the 14 weeks of each term, we will explore 4 different media including:

•   Pencil drawing and sketching
•   Oil pastel painting and blending techniques
•   Watercolour painting
•   Abstract and traditional art using acrylic paints

You’ll receive step-by-step teaching in the basic techniques, together with all the tips and secrets necessary to create beautiful and unique pieces of art.

By the end of the course you’ll have created a minimum of 8 pieces of your very own original artwork to take home with you, from watercolour landscapes, to abstract acrylic paintings, seaside vistas, wildlife, delicate flowers, and a variety of other studies.

Meet New Friends

Bournemouth Painting Lessons

Some Of Our Bournemouth Students

These relaxed and sociable lessons are a great way to learn new artistic and creative skills you’ll be able to then take with you and enjoy forever. And you’ll also get to meet new friends and have some fun at the same time… an experience you’ll cherish and remember for a very long time.

These classes are open to adults of all ages and are a great way to learn a new hobby, whether you’re a working mum who can spare 3 hours once a week, or someone who is newly retired and wants to meet new friends and learn a new skill at the same time.

The final day of each course encourages you to display your artwork in a relaxed and sociable exhibition that we hold for students and their friends and family. This is always popular, and provides a great way to round off your three and a half months with us.

Limited Places Available

To maintain a high standard and ensure that each pupil receives the individual attention they require the classes are deliberately kept small, and as a result the spaces available are limited.

Our art classes in Bournemouth are nearly always booked up well in advance, with many current and former pupils also pre-booking further tuition together with some of the friends they’ve made during their time with us.

Booking in advance is essential, and if you are interested in learning more, please call us for a chat on 01202-580909 or Click Here To Email Us

We look forward to your call and will do our very best to answer any questions you may have.

Spring Painting Course News

Press Release

Bournemouth Art Students

A Few Of Our Pupils

The Seasons Art Class is nearing the end of its 14 week long part-time Spring painting course in Bournemouth and will soon be holding an exhibition of the student’s work.

Adrian Kay from The Seasons Art Class commented “This is the first course we have held in Bournemouth and we’ve been really delighted with the feedback. We were over-subscribed and in the end we had to limit the numbers, but we’re finding that many of the pupils have already booked onto future courses with us, and recommended us to their friends as well. I couldn’t be happier with the way things have turned out and I’m delighted with the quality of work that the pupils are producing. It gets better and better each week”.

Adrian went on to mention that the tuition is ideal for both complete beginners who have never had any drawing or painting lessons before, and those artists who have already had some training in the past but now want to improve and progress onto the next stage.

The Teaching Format

Each term lasts for a total of 14 weeks with students attending one 3 hour class a week, covering everything from pencil drawing and sketching, to blending and painting with oil pastels, watercolours and acrylics. And each week builds on what the students have already been taught and follows a structured but relaxed format, enabling them to quickly develop and have fun at the same time.

Amanda the principal tutor patiently talks the students through each project and then provides a step-by-step demonstration which the class copy under her close supervision, offering extra help and adapting to each pupil’s needs when required so that everyone produces a finished painting they are proud of.

And to help them on their way, everyone is given a set of full colour printed notes at the end of each session to remind them of what they have been shown that day.

Adrian says “They finish every lesson on a real high, genuinely amazed at what they’ve been able to paint, and the written notes we give out encourage them to practice when they get home if they want to”.

With a friendly, sociable atmosphere that is both welcoming and professional, the classes are proving a real success, and are a great way to meet new friends too.

The Summer Course which is open to adults of all ages, is due to start in Bournemouth soon and places are still available for both the morning and afternoon sessions. If you would like to come along and join in the fun, you can find out more by telephoning 01202-580909.
